Quick and accurate service of today’s late model trains can be accomplished
using Ford cam tools. Cam positioning is a critical procedure on today’s computer-controlled
vehicles. A camshaft can be timed in error, but the motor will still run. The
ECM compensates for the error, but performance and mileage will be affected, and
the vehicle’s “check engine” light may come on at some point.
Some cam sensors are adjustable and some
aren't. A badly adjusted cam sensor can produce problems. If the injector
delivers its fuel too early or too late, all sorts of surges, stumbles, and
starting problems can result.
OTC offers complete line of cam tools for the Ford vehicle family. Ensure
proper cam timing when you replace a head gasket, replace a timing belt or
chain, or complete any valve train repair. Quick and accurate service of
today’s late model valve trains can be accomplished using the Ford Cam
Positioning Tools from OTC. OTC Ford cam tools ensure correct cam timing
when servicing timing belts, chains, head
gaskets; or other valve train repairs.
The tools are based on Ford OE design. The Ford cam tools are sold in a
Master Kit, part number OTC6489. They are also broken
down into three smaller cam tool kit configurations - OTC6498 Ford
4.6L 4-Valve Cam Timing Kit, OTC6488 Ford 1997 - 2004 Explorer/Mountaineer SOHC
V-6 Cam Tool Kit, and OTC6487 for 4.6L, 5.4L, and 6.8L modular V-8 engines.
Each tool can also be purchased separately.
If you need procedure instructions for cam positioning or cam timing, you can
