custom-tailors a module to a certain vehicle. The calibration file contains data
for things such as spark curves and fuel control. When troubleshooting a
driveability condition, diagnosis may call for reprogramming the controller with
newer calibration information to correct a customer concern.
The primary function of the CANdi module is to add CAN (controller area
network) capability to the Tech 2. The basic characteristics of the CANdi module
are that it supports simultaneous communications on three CAN buses and provides
high-speed UART communications with the Tech 2. The CANdi module connects
between the Tech 2 Flash’s Diagnostic Link Cable and the OBD adapter. Once the
CANdi module is connected, it can be used on all GM vehicle applications, even
those vehicles using other platforms such as OBD I and II.
