Many people experience issues with their mielage or display in their instrument panel and are unaware that replacing one is quite simple and can be done on your own. Our company offers a full line of General Motors instrument clusters that will be shipped to you fully programmed and ready for installation. Many clusters, like the 599-315 and 599-316 have slight variations. Some clusters come with driver information centers, others come without. The same is true for transmission temperature gauges so it is important to know exactly what cluster you current have in the vehicle you are working on.
When you are ordering your instrument cluster, you will need to provide the make, model, mileage, and VIN number. With this information the clusters will be fully programmed and ready for install in the car or truck. We offer clusters for Envoys, Suburbans, Silverados, Impalas and even Hummer H2's. These instrument clusters also include a core charge which you will receive back when the original broken cluster is returned to us. The package will arrive with a UPS call tag which allows you to send it back at no cost to you! Instrument clusters can be shipped out overnight or second day air but they take approximately two days to be programmed before shipping. Keep in mind any and all clusters are fully tested before shipment.
Once you have decided on the cluster that works for you and have it delivered, the installation process is quite simple. You will want to begin by turning the key to the on position so the display is visible. Put your gear selector into the lowest possible gear and tilt the steering wheel down so that you can get to the assembly that attaches to the cluster and pry back the clips. Once removed, take out the four screws and the cluster will be loose from the vehicle. Simply remove the connector, plug in the new cluster and refit the screws and the molding and you are good to go!
Of course certain vehicles have other steps that may need to be done and it is always best to refer to your favorite Chilton, Haynes or OEM factory manual. It is always best to have a reference manual to avoid deploying any airbag or other sensors that can be associated with the instrument cluster in your vehicle. Once you have the new cluster in position hit the open road and enjoy!
